One thing I love about being a wedding photographer is being able to experience how different cultures celebrate weddings and this one was no excuse. Mike and Rachel’s wedding was my first traditional Jewish wedding where they signed the ‘ketubah’ – a Jewish prenuptial agreement – and took part in the ‘horah’ – a circular, celebratory dance where the bride and groom were lifted on chairs in the middle of the circle. The wedding also took place on Cinco De Mayo and the groom’s Mexican roots were also honored in the day!
I loved how Rachel and Michael were so down-to-earth and simple in their approach – forgoing the common ‘sweetheart table,’ where the bride and groom are separated from the guests, but rather sat in the middle of the room at a table, surrounded by friends.
It was such a sweet experience being able to capture their day!
